After all, an Ezine is an electronic magazine and the last time I checked, any magazine that I pick up at the grocery store has tons of Ads in it. Many Ezines serve a massive audience and can also reach thousands and thousands of people at a price that is a fraction of the cost of a pay per click campaign.


Article Marketing
This may not be the easiest way to generate traffic because of the work involved, but with constancy it can generate a great amount because there are ways to distribute your articles across hundreds of article directories allowing you to get a massive amount of hits for pennies on the dollar.

Add Active Subscribers to You List - Part 3 - Maximize Email Click Through Rates

Once your email is opened you now have the opportunity to present your readership with some good quality content.  Most of the time you will want to capitalize on an active reader and have him or her click on a link in your email that directs them to a page on your website or blog.  The amount of people who click on your link compared to the amount that open your email is called your click through rate.  Maximizing your click through rate means more people will see your website or sales offer and more traffic.


You can complete this step concurrently with the previous step of analyzing your email open rates.  The process is very similar.  Firstly, look through your email inbox and take a note of the emails that you read and visit the links within.  Take a note of who they are from and what they are writing about.  Also take note of their style of writing - long, short, to the point, in stories etc.  This will form the basis of the style of emails that you will start to test with.


Again, I recommend you write and load your autoresponder with at least 20 emails. For best click through rates think about targeting your information closely to your subscribers needs and wants; you have to know your audience.  If you don't know your audience ask them what they want or ask them for their most pressing questions about your niche or topic.  I have found it better to write short to medium emails providing one or two tips rather than long theoretical articles.  Plus I always have just one link per email, just one desired action and no choices.


Once you have had at least 100 subscribers receive your first 20 emails you should look at your 5 lowest performing emails and change the content of that email.


Then after another 100 subscribers receive your emails check their performance again.  Continue to rewrite the 5 worst performing emails and you will notice your open rates will begin to rise.

It's Time to Maximize Marketing Opportunities Or Could it Be Bad News For Ad Agencies?

Bad news sell newspapers - well whoop de do for newspapers! It certainly doesn't do the rest of us any favours. The UK's red tops struggle to find a front page headline unless Amy Winehouse slaps someone or a Big Brother contestant farts on air unless there's a sensational crime to write about. Failing that it's a case of let's follow the broadsheets and create gloom and doom in the UK by reporting on every last snippet of bad news from the high street.


This desire to sell newspapers regardless of the messages sent out by the news articles creates further gloom and despondency in the high street which spreads throughout the land to create a massive downturn and a countywide malaise. And what for? Just to sell newspapers? That may not be entirely true but it is not without some credence and it is a fact in the UK that bad news will rise to the top of the pile to be reported before good.


Look at this example: the source is the BBC News website and you might think that the headline is from last week - but no, it is in "mid-boom" on 24 May 2005 and the article reads:-


Profits and sales tumble at M&S


Marks & Spencer saw its profits fall by almost a fifth last year and has admitted that the outlook for the business remains "challenging".


The retailer's annual pre-tax pre-exceptional profits fell 19% to £618.5m... Chief executive Stuart Rose said conditions were tough but insisted the company was "on track". "Clearly it is tough. The economic climate has turned out to be tougher than we forecast but we are on track."


But as it turned out, M&S definitely was on track and in May 2006 posted profits of £751.4m which was a 35% rise on 2005. In 2007 M&S posted profits of £965.2m which was 28.5% up on profits in 2006. Pre-tax profits for the year to 29 March 2008 were £1,007m and sales rose to £9 billion.


This was the first time in 11 years that M&S profits had topped the £1 billion mark. You might think, "Well that's great news for M&S" but what was the headline?


This is from the Times Online May 21 2008:

In the Telegraph 3 July 2008-07-10 Marks & Spencer shares tumble as retailer issued profit alert Chairman Sir Stuart Rose said that in the past few weeks "consumer confidence levels have deteriorated markedly and market conditions have become more challenging."


Retail analysts will downgrade forecasts on the back of the profits warning. In a flash note to clients Nick Bubb, retail analyst at Palli International, cut his pre-tax profit forecasts for the current year from £850m to £800m "at best".


How about if the headline had read: Forecasts say that M&S will make over £2,000,000 profit a day this year Or M&S profit forecast for 2009 is £244,000,000 better than the last time it said that the economic climate was tough in 2006!


What I am getting at is that if you want to look at things in a pessimistic light then just read the papers and then panic. However, things are not all gloom and doom and we can interpret so many facts and figures in a more positive way. No matter how dark the outlook is being painted by the newspapers and other news media, there are always opportunities to do well if you are willing to look for them and to make the most of those opportunities when they present themselves.


I work in an industry that is closely allied to advertising and marketing and it is at times such as these that the industry feels the pinch. Corporate budgets are cut and the first in line for the chop is often the advertising budget which is absolutely crazy. Still, I would hate to see newspaper headlines that read: Agency Closures due to forecasts of reduced profits and would much rather see: Agencies bring client success despite forecasts (not much of a headline but it might make the trade press). However, in order to achieve client success agencies will have to work harder to make their sales and marketing campaigns stand out and get noticed.


One area in great need of improvement in effort is direct marketing. I am still receiving letters form credit card companies, insurance companies and so on that have not changed one iota in style for years. And yet if there is a squeeze on, shouldn't these direct mail pieces be screaming at me rather than offering the same old lame format that is unquestionably heading straight for the bin.

What Do You Already Know?


When it comes to credibility and reliability, I believe that many of you will agree that Google's AdSense Program requires no further endorsements nor introduction. In the event that you require some additional information about AdSense, you can always visit Google's official AdSense website.


Once upon a time, there were many bloggers who used to show off their thousands of dollar earnings with AdSense. Nowadays, such high earnings are virtually impossible, because almost everyone is doing it, and as the chances of someone landing on your websites and clicking on those ads gets slimmer, the closer you will be in achieving nothing but sheer frustration. So, you may ask. Is AdSense still a viable source of income? The answer is yes and I encourage you to read on.


What you do not (probably) know?


You probably asked yourself if there were any AdSense Secrets. Well there could be, but I have to admit that I am not aware of them. One thing I do know is that to make a decent amount of money with AdSense, you need a website that generates a high volume of visitors per month (about 30K). In addition to your traffic, if your chosen niche is one of those that are highly competitive, then your chances of generating high paying keywords is also a possibility. Now, If you are just starting your journey or your website generates very little amount of traffic, it is likely that you will earn only a few cents per day.


What should you do?


I will provide you with two possible solutions to maximize your earnings with AdSense. The first is the most obvious one and that is to promote your website like crazy, provide value for your readers, do plenty of SEO work, socialize and expect to increase your traffic and rank well on search engines.


The other possible solution is to spread as much AdSense ads as you can.


Before I explain to you this method in more detail, take a small website that generates about 20 - 50 unique visitors per day, as an example. This website can generate somewhere between 0,25 cents to 0,75 cents a day. If you can average 0,50 cents a day, then you should have a whopping 15$ a month. Well, that is not much, is it? OK. Now imagine you have 10 websites. That should now be 150$ per month (not bad). How about if you have 20 websites? That's 300$ ! I think by now, you are catching on.


The next obvious question is how will you manage so many websites? Quick answer, who said that making money online was easy? Actually, all but your main flagship should require very little attention from your part. Very little does not mean nothing, and should you decide to take this route, here are some suggestions on how to explore this avenue.


Choose different topics or niches - Music, Books, Travel, Technology, Parenting, Gadgets, etc
Build various websites/blogs on free platforms that allows you to run AdSense
Publish one two articles every 15 days - No idea for articles? Get some for free on "Free Articles Directories" and remember to follow their republishing guidelines.
Add AdSense for Search on each website/blog
Include an authority website's feed of your chosen topic, example: CNN's feed for Technology (this will be some sort of an automatic content generator
Submit them all to as much search engines and social bookmarking sites as possible. Get them all indexed at the very least.
Promote them once in a while (Twitter, Forums, Directories, etc..)
If you have unused domains and do not know what to do with them, use AdSense For Domains
Create channels for each Ad placement and analyze their performance to see which ones are working best.
Make sure you adhere to Google's AdSense TOS

That's about it. Apply the above method and you should be able to increase your AdSense earnings.
