Using Forums To Build Backlinks That Convert

Using Forums To Build Backlinks That Convert
Forums are still among the most effective ways to generate backlinks around, and they are also one of the oldest. Forums are great because they are often very specific in their focus on a niche. If you use that resource as a place to recruit new subscribers to your website, or a way to build backlinks, then you will be getting more and more conversions along the way.

Forums are basically a place to discuss various subjects in an online setting. Like chat rooms but not in real time, a forum is the perfect setting to meet others that like the same things you do. It is also a perfect setting for backlink building because your signature and responses can be directly related to what they like to look at. That means targeted traffic to your website that will likely result in increased conversions.

Backlinks that convert are those that are located on sites and places where your niche is highly similar, and that are likely to be clicked on. When in a forum, you must find a way to make your signature as dynamic as possible to get clicks. This is usually done with a call to action that will solve a problem that most people in that forum likely suffer from. For example, in an online writing forum, getting over writer's block is a common problem. Offering a solution to this problem in your signature might draw plenty of clicks. You get the general idea. Offer up a problem, and then solve it by clicking to your website.

Forums are also known for rules, so you have to make sure you follow them. Most of today's forums do not allow direct links in the forum posts. That said, your signature is the most likely way to generate backlinks that convert. Make yours special as it is your best shot.

Another way use forums to generate backlinks that convert is to explore other people's signatures that are related to your niche. Not only will you build someone else's trust by participating in their site, you can usually leave your link in the comments section along with an intelligent comment. This can get you a backlink and occasionally visits from the people that frequent that website. That is a win/win for everyone, and it surely will give you backlinks that convert because the visitors will be looking for what you offer.

Construction Marketing - Blogs and Forums

Construction Marketing - Blogs and Forums

In the world of construction, we need more things like blogs and forums where resources and tools are made available for contractors to use to improve their businesses.

Construction newsletters, articles, and books on construction marketing are too few and far between, at least compared to other industries which are commonly conceived to be more so-called "professional."

But, like a good contractor buddy of mine says:

"A surgeon client complained about my prices and said, 'I don't make that much for my time, and I'm a surgeon.'"

To which the contractor responded:

"Neither did I when I was a surgeon."

The public perception of lack of professionalism among general contractors is something I've ranted about many times in the past. It's frustrating. But it can be overcome.

I guess the best defense against this perception is simply living a life of integrity. Eventually, where it counts, your integrity will rise to the top.

But in the mean time, we can use marketing practices that work to boost our sales and increase our clients satisfaction level.

Because, as many experienced contractors know, client satisfaction can often times be influenced by your client's perception of reality. And your client's perception of reality can often only be altered through effective marketing techniques.

And that's where the importance of Construction Marketing Forums and Blogs comes in.

If we read, and discuss, and comment on things that work and things that don't, we help advance our cause as an industry.

Here is a list of some of my favorite construction blog and forum resources:

Remodel Crazy

JLC Construction Forum

Construction Marketing Blog

There are a few other excellent resources for contractors that can be found online. But that's a topic for another day.

You could spend 6 months reading nonstop and learn a ton with the three listed above. Take the time to add these resources to your reading list, and just watch your marketing prowess increase very quickly.

Happy learning!
