Over the last few years one of the most lucrative ways to make money on online has been through affiliate marketing. When you venture out into this business you must acquire some key traits. You've got to want to learn, you have to be realistic and you need perseverance in order to succeed.


Track and Measure


For each campaign that you run you must track and analyze the results. What are your advertising costs? Your conversion rates etc. You need to know what's working and what isn't if you are to have any chance of succeeding.


You have to be able to track your results for all your campaigns. You must know your conversion rates, your advertising costs how much it cost per customer etc. Having the ability to analyze and know what works for you and what doesn't will only speed up your success rate.


Target Your Campaigns To Your Market


You must target your marketing to those that are looking to buy. In every market there is a percentage of people that will purchase your product. Don't make the mistake of trying to be all things to everyone. You will only end up disappointed.


Never Give up


It's very exciting when you are starting out for the first time. You lie awake at night dreaming of the riches you will be making. All the sales you will make. The problem with this is that it sets your expectations high and when people don't achieve the over night success they quit. Just remember success may be just around the corner. Don't give up keep learning as you go by studying your successes and failures. If you focus on that the money will come.

Why do you want to go online? What does it mean to you to become a success? It's a good idea to write down one primary goal that you want to accomplish. Write it down on a 3 x 5 card and look at it every morning and evening. You need to see it so that you stay focused.

Like every new venture you have to be willing to be open minded and learn new things. Take the time to invest in courses and learn from others success. Don't try and beat down your own path. You may get there eventually that way but it will probably cost you a fortune in the long run. Instead find out who the successful people are and learn from them both successes and failures.


Sometimes You Can Be An Overnight Success


Every now and then you will hear a story of how one person had an overnight success. It's not that uncommon for this to happen to have someone just pick up the business as do well.


On a whole learning this business is a steep slope. You have a lot of skills to pick up and learn along the way. Don't despair though if you're bank account isn't over flowing with money after a couple of weeks. Just keep learning and working on improving your skills and you will be well on your way to online success.

Domain names are the unique word sequences that you enter in your address bar of your internet browser to visit a specific web site. For instance one of my domain names is TopTierIncome.com. This domain name is then used in a URL's (Uniform Resource Locator) to identify a specific website. A URL prefixes the domain name with "http://www."


You can purchase a domain name for just a few pounds/dollars.


Capture Page
A capture page is sometimes referred to as a landing page or squeeze page and it acts as the gate way to your business. Your capture page is the first impression that your visitor gets of you and what you are offering.


It is called a capture page as it captures the personal information of your prospects as they are prompted to leave their name, email address, maybe even their telephone number and other info. Some marketers ask for the best time of day to call or which country you may live in.


The sole purpose of the capture page is to provoke sufficient curiosity with your visitors that they leave their details. The prime objective is getting them to subscribe to your list, thus building your database. Allows me to relate the message to a real time frame and to real events that may be happening in my life, business or in the world generally. For instance my business works 24/7 365 days a year so I make money while I'm away on holiday or travelling. When I'm away I send short email broadcast messages out to my list mentioning that I am holiday in x and that my business has still made me money on auto-pilot.
Another reason I prefer the broadcast method is I hate receiving emails on Christmas day and Boxing Day. Other people maybe offended in receiving messages on other religious events, by using the broadcast method I control when my messages go out.
I feel this method builds greater rapport with my subscribers

Many marketers literally set up their auto-responders from day one with hundreds of messages. You can set these messages to go out at predetermined internal. The first one will probably go out immediately the customer has taken an action, most probably after they have left their details at your website or capture page.


Auto responder messages build momentum and trust amongst your subscribers. I usually send 2 a week a maximum of five over a 2 week period. Some marketers send messages out every day, I just feel that is OTT.


One of the keys to successful in internet marketing is to continue to provide real value for your subscribers not just bombarding them with constant sales pitches.


When choosing an auto-responder I would suggest that you always use a recognised company. Two of the very best out there are AWeber and Get Response. I've always been with AWeber but I have used Get Response when helping team members so I can recommend either without hesitation.


What I would say is never use a business opportunity's own auto responder system. I learnt the hard way, when the company I was with disappeared - so did my list.

After you have gotten your domain name, the next thing you need to get is web hosting.


A web hosting is one that will hold all the files that your website has.


When it comes to choosing a web hosting service, make sure you go for one that is reliable (that has at least 99% uptime), and one with a 24/7 live support. The reason is because, if the web hosting that you use is always down, your customers will not be able to access your website. And as a result, you will lose out on possibly a lot of sales.


A basic web hosting service costs approximately $ 5 a month (this again, is very affordable to everyone).


3. Autoresponder


Now that you have gotten your website up and running, the next thing you need is to get your visitors' information (so that you will are able to follow up with them).


You can follow up with your visitors by sending them emails - And as such, you need a way to capture their email address, and also a way to send out emails to them - All these can be handled by an autoresponder service.

You can get some essential statistics about your website from your web host (go to your website's cPanel, and locate the icon "Awstats") or you can sign up for a free Google Analytics account (where all you need to do is to copy a few lines of code to your website and you will be able to capture essential statistics about your website).


With these statistics at hand, you can find out useful information such as the topics in which your visitors are more interested in (and with this information at hand, you can create more articles on the topics in which your visitors are interested in). And by doing so, you can get your visitors to visit your website again and again (this will help boost your website's traffic volume).

Marketing materials can encompass everything from business cards to brochures to signage and are often one of the most overlooked aspects in the day-to-day marketing of law firms. Budgets are tight and time is short, but we've put together a list of five things every firm should evaluate on a regular basis. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to look them over and see what's working and what needs to be changed.


Your website
Forget the fancy flash animation, client sign-ins and blogs, does your website reflect your firm? Does the color palette reflect your firm personality? Is it clear and easy to read? Can a visitor to the site immediately understand who you are and what you do? If not, it may be time for an update.


Your attorney biographies
An easy way to update your materials, spend an hour creating a short template that all attorney bios need to fit. No more 5-page biographies, keep the information short and relevant to the clients attorneys are trying to land, not the ones they already have. And if it means cutting out a few highlights, so be it. Also keep careful watch on the personal aspects. It's great to be involved in community organizations but limit them to those you are truly involved in on a regular basis, rather than in name only.


Your business cards
Business cards are a cheap and easy way to update your marketing materials. Even the most white-shoe firms can get a little creative when it comes to their cards. Think outside the box...turn them vertical if your logo allows, go for a 2-sided card so that your firm name (or logo) takes center stage on one side or even add a tagline for extra marketing message punch.


Your brochure
With the popularity of the web, firm brochures don't have to be as detailed and chock full of information as they used to be. Use the brochure to highlight your best assets and give a true feel for the firm culture. Does your brochure have personal quotes from firm partners? Does it give statistics on the number of closings you did last year? Does it feel like it truly fits with your other materials or could it be generic to any firm your size? Use the website to get into real details...use your brochure to set the tone.


Your E-mail
It may be simple but having a formatted e-mail signature with your firm logo, tagline (if you have one) and contact information lends an extra air of sophistication to an otherwise basic form of communication. Have them personalized for each attorney, secretary and paralegal...it will be a small detail that people will notice.


A short list...but an important one. By regularly reevaluating even the simplest of marketing tools, you will make it easier to continually present a modern and up-to-date visual representation of your firm.

Thanks to the crummy economy, there has been a bit of a gold rush online lately.  Whether or not this is a good thing remains to be seen.  Generally, it is not a good thing because a lot of people who have no business in the business of Internet publishing are making a run at it.  To to tell you the absolute truth, unless you are a celebrity or a fabulous writer, nobody cares about your little blog, and they never will.  It's a cruel world because celebrities don't need the money, and fabulous writers often waste their talent with blogs.


If you think of yourself as a blogger, you are dead in the water.  Frankly, to be called a "blogger" is a bit of an insult, and if you call yourself that, it is even worse.  If you want to succeed at this, you must take the attitude that you are no mere blogger.  You are, in fact, a publisher who happens to publish on the Internet.  You are a writer who writes for themselves and their audience instead of for some bossy editor. 


You are either a writer or a savvy business person who can hire other people to write for you, using the Internet to wangle some dollars out of their talent. 


Those are your choices: Wrtier or business person.  Bloggers are people who keep diaries online.  Nothing wrong with it, but it is not a business.  Beyond your friends and family, chances are slim that anyone will read your blog.  Sorry to break it to you, but that's the way it is.


Step one in making money on the Internet: Stop thinking of yourself as a blogger or "Internet marketer." You are an online publisher (or broadcaster if you prefer).  You are a writer (or maker of videos and audio files). If you take that attitude, you will succeed.  You may fail many times before you find what works, but you will succeed eventually.


Just remember that you will fail.  Every blogger fails.  There's nothing wrong with it.  Thomas Edison literally failed 10,000 times before he succeeded, and thank goodness he did!
